Methodology
Immunoassay
Qualitative test to detect human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) for the early detection of pregnancy. Detection of hCG levels of 10 mIU/mL in serum for the confirmation of pregnancy.
Specimen Requirements
Specimen must arrive within 48 hours of draw.
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

Specimen Volume: 1 mL (minimum volume: 0.5 mL) of

Collection Instructions: Spin down within 2 hours of draw.

Reference Values
Positive, negative, or weakly-positive.
hCG is not normally detected in the serum of healthy men and healthy nonpregnant women. A positive result indicates hCG levels of ≥10 mIU/mL.
Note: Repeat testing is recommended in 48 hours for a weakly-positive result.
