Useful in the diagnosis and management of a variety of disorders including bone, parathyroid, and renal diseases.

Specimen Requirements

 

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

Serum

Serum Gel Tube

Container/Tube: Serum gel tube(s)
Specimen Volume: 1 mL (minimum volume: 0.5 mL) of serum-Hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.

Collection Instructions: Spin down within 4 hours of draw.

Note: Label specimen appropriately (serum).

Plain, Red-Top Tube

Container/Tube: Plain, red-top tube(s)
Specimen Volume: 1 mL (minimum volume: 0.5 mL) of serum-Hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.

<2 months: 4.8-8.2 mg/dL

2 months-4 years: 3.8-6.5 mg/dL

4-7 years: 4.1-5.4 mg/dL

7-12 years: 3.7-5.6 mg/dL

12-16 years: 3.0-5.4 mg/dL

>16 years: 2.5-4.5 mg/dL

Critical value (automatic call-back): ≤1.0 mg/dL
