Methodology
Tube Testing
Order this test on an infants <4 months old. If patient is >4 months, order ABO/RH “Type and Rh, Blood.”
Note: If direct antiglobulin test (DAT) is also desired, see NTC “Type, Rh, and Direct Antiglobulin Test, Newborn, Blood.”
Specimen Requirements
Container/Tube: Lavender-top (EDTA) MICROTAINER®
Specimen Volume: 0.5 mL of whole blood

Note: If specimen is cord blood, send a minimum of 1 mL of EDTA cord blood.
