Methodology

Chemiluminescent Immunoassay

Useful in screening for past or current hepatitis C infection (detects IgG antibodies to hepatitis C antigens c22-3, c200, and NS5).

Specimen Requirements

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

 

Preferred:

Serum Gel Tube

Specimen Type: Serum

Container/Tube: Serum gel
Specimen Volume: 1 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Spin down within 8 hours of draw.

2. Label specimen as serum.

 

Alternate:

Plain, Red-Top Tube

Specimen Type: Serum

Container/Tube: Plain, red top
Specimen Volume: 1 mL

Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL

Collection Instructions:

1. Spin down within 8 hours of draw.

2. Label specimen as serum.

Plasma
Container/Tube: Green top (lithium heparin) or lavender top (EDTA)

Specimen Volume: 1 mL
