Test Code DIFF MANUAL DIFFERENTIAL

Important Note

Specimen must arrive within 24 hours of draw.

Order this test only if physician has specifically requested a manual differential. (An automated differential is included in CBCDIFF “CBC (Complete Blood Count), Blood”).

Abnormal results may be submitted to a pathologist for review upon physician request.

Methodology

Light Microscopy/Sysmex® XN Methodologies

Includes WBC count.

 

Useful for the differentiation of WBCs and evaluation of RBC morphology in peripheral blood.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 24 hours of draw.

 

Container/Tube: Lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s) with HemogardTM lid or lavender MICROTAINER®

Specimen Volume: 3 mL (minimum volume: 1 mL/pediatric: 0.5 mL) of whole blood

Collection Instructions:

  1. Invert tube(s) several times to mix blood.
  2. Do not centrifuge.
  3. Forward promptly in original tube(s).

  1. Do Not Centrifuge
  2. Clotted or Hemolyzed
  3. Frozen Samples
