Methodology

Chemiluminescent Immunoassay 

CKMB usually peaks between 12 and 24 hours after myocardial infarction and returns to normal in 48 to 72 hours in an uncomplicated case. CKMB is also commonly increased in myocarditis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, polymyositis, rhabdomyolysis, and other myocardial or myopathic disorders.

Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube: Green-top (lithium heparin) tube(s)

Specimen Volume: 1 mL (minimum volume: 0.5 mL) of plasma-Grossly hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.

Collection Instructions: Spin down within 2 hours of draw.
