Specimen Requirements

Call Logan Health Medical Center Pathology Department at 406-752-1789 at least 24 hours prior to specimen collection for specific instructions. Send specimen Monday through Wednesday only.

Container/Tube: Sterile container
Specimen Volume: Entire nerve biopsy
Collection Instructions: Submit fresh, unfixed tissue, moistened with saline. Specimen should be delivered as soon as possible to a member of the Pathology Department.

Note: 1. Label container with patient’s legal name, date of birth, tissue source, and physician’s name.

2. Specimen source, tentative clinical diagnosis, name of nerve biopsied, date of biopsy, indication for nerve biopsy, and physician’s name are required.
