Methodology
Includes examination of the gross specimen with dissection when appropriate and microscopic examination of selected tissues.
Specimen Requirements
Normal business hours contact the Logan Health Medical Center Pathology Department at 406-752-1789 at least 30 minutes prior to submitting specimen.
Weekends and after hours, call Logan Health Medical Center Laboratory at 406-752-1737 at least 30 minutes prior to submitting specimen.
Container/Tube: Sterile container with sterile saline
Specimen Volume: Fresh, unfixed tissue
Collection Instructions:
1. Label container with patient’s legal name, date of birth, collection date, clinician, and specimen source.
2. Specimen source, clinical history/diagnosis, and physician’s name are required.
3. Specimen should be delivered as soon as possible to a member of the Pathology Department.
4. Not recommended for minute biopsies, gastrointestinal biopsies, lymphoma diagnosis, specimens containing bone/calcium, or pigmented skin lesions.
